Procedural synthetic data generation (SDG) pipeline for computer vision tasks using SideFX Houdini, automating domain randomization and COCO-format annotation via Cryptomatte.

The project is a personal implementation of a synthetic data pipeline within SideFX Houdini. While Houdini is a powerful tool for procedural generation, the repository currently has zero stars, zero forks, and was just created, indicating no market traction or community support. The approach of using Cryptomatte for automatic segmentation masking is a standard industry practice in VFX-to-AI workflows and does not constitute a novel moat. It faces extreme competition from established platforms like NVIDIA Omniverse (Replicator), Unity Perception, and SideFX's own Solaris/PDG (Procedural Dependency Graph) tools which are designed specifically for this purpose. A frontier lab or a dedicated SDG startup would find little value in this specific implementation over existing enterprise-grade tools. The '32 axes of randomization' is a configuration detail rather than a technical breakthrough. Its defensibility is effectively zero as any technical artist familiar with Houdini could replicate this pipeline in a few days.
