selfhostedAI is a convenience wrapper for existing open-source projects. While it gained some traction (416 stars) early in the AI boom, its defensibility is near zero because it provides no proprietary technology—only orchestration scripts. The project currently shows zero velocity, which is a critical failure state for an installation script repository; AI dependencies (CUDA versions, Python libraries, API changes) evolve so fast that a stagnant script-set becomes broken within months. It has been effectively displaced by more robust 'one-click' platforms such as Pinokio (which uses a scriptable browser approach), LM Studio, and Ollama, which offer superior UX and active maintenance. Platform domination risk is high because the 'how to install' problem is being solved by hardware-specific optimizations from NVIDIA and unified installers from more capitalized startups. A technical investor would see this as an obsolete utility superseded by more integrated desktop AI management tools.
