Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system for document upload, semantic search, and natural language querying with FastAPI backend and FAISS vector store

This is a 0-star, brand-new personal project with no adoption, forks, or commit history. The README describes a standard RAG application—document upload → embedding → FAISS indexing → LLM query—which is a commodity pattern documented extensively in tutorials (LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc.). No novel architectural decisions, custom algorithms, or differentiated approach are evident. FastAPI + FAISS + LLM is the canonical boilerplate stack for RAG, with zero defensibility once published. Frontier labs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) are actively shipping RAG as core platform features (GPT-4 with retrieval, Claude with context windows, Vertex AI Search). This project directly competes with: (1) LangChain's RAG chains, (2) LlamaIndex's data loaders and query engines, (3) OpenAI's Assistant API with retrieval, and (4) any LLM's native context window for document analysis. Zero barriers to replication—same libraries, same patterns. The stated use cases (intelligence analysis, cybersecurity, business insights) are generic verticals, not defensible moats. Implementation appears to be prototype stage (no production hardening signals). High frontier risk because RAG is now a table-stakes feature that frontier labs integrate natively into their platforms, making standalone RAG tools increasingly commoditized.
