The project is a specific driver for the 'did:evrc' identifier method. While technically functional within the DIF Universal Resolver ecosystem, it suffers from very low adoption (10 stars) and total stagnation (0 velocity over 2.5 years). Its value is entirely derivative of the EveryCRED network; if that network lacks users, the driver has no utility. In the competitive landscape of decentralized identity, dominant methods like did:web, did:ion (Microsoft), and did:key have captured the majority of developer mindshare. The code follows a standard template for Universal Resolver drivers, making it trivially reproducible by anyone with the protocol specification. Frontier labs are unlikely to compete here as this is a niche identity primitive, but the risk of obsolescence is high due to market consolidation toward more popular DID methods.
