YAML-driven workflow automation API for orchestrating LLM-based tasks with async Redis workers and real-time SSE progress streaming

This is a greenfield project (34 days old, 0 stars/forks, 0 velocity) implementing a well-understood pattern: declarative workflow orchestration with async task execution and real-time progress updates. The tech stack is commodity (FastAPI + Redis + YAML configs), and the combination, while functional, is not novel—similar architectures exist in Airflow, Temporal, Prefect, and increasingly in platform-native solutions (AWS Step Functions, Google Workflows, Azure Logic Apps). The SSE progress streaming is a standard web pattern. With 148 tests, there is engineering discipline, but no clear defensibility against: (1) Platform domination—AWS, Google, and Azure are actively building native LLM orchestration into their workflow services and could trivially add SSE streaming; OpenAI and Anthropic could wrap this pattern into their platforms. (2) Market consolidation—established workflow platforms (Prefect, Temporal, Airflow) already offer LLM integrations and async task execution; a new entrant without adoption, community, or a unique angle will struggle. (3) The 6-month horizon reflects that platforms are moving fast on LLM orchestration; this project has no moat and zero adoption to defend against a well-resourced competitor building the same thing in 2-3 months. The API design is clean and extensible, but without traction, a niche use case, or domain expertise, it remains a competent but displaced tutorial-grade project.
