Detects financial fraud by treating banking transaction sequences as text-like inputs for a DistilBERT transformer model, capturing temporal behavioral patterns.

The project is a standard application of NLP transformer architectures (DistilBERT) to non-textual sequential data (banking transactions). With only 3 stars and 2 forks, it lacks the community traction, data gravity, or unique architectural innovation required to be defensible. The approach of using BERT for transaction sequences is a well-documented academic pattern (similar to TransactBERT or various 'BERT-for-everything' papers) but lacks the production-grade features of established fraud detection platforms like Sift, Feedzai, or Featurespace. Frontier labs and cloud providers (AWS Fraud Detector, Google Cloud Anti Money Laundering AI) offer far more robust, managed services that incorporate graph-based features and real-time streaming, which this prototype does not address. The displacement horizon is near-term because any competent data scientist could replicate this functionality in a single notebook session using Hugging Face's 'Trainer' API.
