This project is a decade-old academic or experimental implementation of multipath routing using the Ryu SDN controller. With only 56 stars and no activity for years (Velocity: 0.0), it serves primarily as a historical reference rather than a viable production tool. The defensibility is near zero as modern networking has moved toward P4-based programmable data planes and eBPF for host-level networking, rendering centralized OpenFlow controllers for multipath routing largely obsolete in high-performance environments. While 'Frontier Labs' (AI-focused) are unlikely to build this, the 'Platform Domination Risk' is high because major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hardware vendors (Cisco, Arista) have long since integrated much more sophisticated, hardware-accelerated multipath (ECMP/WCMP) and Traffic Engineering (TE) capabilities directly into their stacks. This project is displaced by virtually any modern SD-WAN or data center fabric solution.
